Power of ONE: We’re all pieces of the puzzle

Elizabeth Ramirez, Care Team Ambassador at CI HQ, loves being on a team that creates positive change around the world.

Care Team Ambassador Elizabeth Ramirez shows how every person plays a part in changing a child’s life. Not only does Elizabeth work for Children International, but she sponsors a child as well. She shares how much her family enjoys corresponding with their sponsored child in Ecuador.

Q: What do you like about working here?

I love coming to work knowing that we all are working toward a change. My previous job was in retail, which was fine. But being part of a team that creates positive change around the world is pretty special.

Q: Tell us about yourself. What do you like to do in your free time?

I’ve lived in Kansas my whole life. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my children, walking the trails at the Overland Park Arboretum, going to concerts and traveling.

Q: What is your favorite thing about sponsoring?

My family is sponsoring a 9-year-old boy named Sebastian who lives in Guayaquil, Ecuador. Being able to see how much he’s grown in his photos each year is neat to see, but what we really love is the relationship we’ve formed through our letters to each other. He usually tells us about playing soccer and recent school events. We know he receives encouragement from our staff and volunteers, but we always tell him how proud we are of him and to keep up the great work. He really is such a sweet kid. We would LOVE to visit him someday! Maybe we’d even play some soccer.

Q: What does the phrase “unleashing the power of every(ONE)” mean to you?

CI is working toward a change that needs the help of every person involved. For the change to begin and thrive, we all need to have faith, be involved and stay focused. The “we” I mentioned includes the kids, their families, the sponsors, CI’s in-country staff and volunteers as well as the team in the United States. We all individually have the desire for this change, but when we work together, everyONE has the power to make it actually happen.

We are all pieces in the puzzle that will help sponsored kids be healthy, educated, employed and empowered to break free from poverty. After all, it does have a full-circle effect.

Get the low-down on the power of (every)ONE, and how you can join the movement!
