Nowhere else could you be bathed by the spray of the world’s largest waterfall, watch lions wile away the afternoon heat in the shade of an acacia tree, visit an isolated village tucked away in a lush jungle, or dine in modern luxury while enjoying a world-class wine.
Welcome to Zambia.
This sub-Saharan country is home to more than 11 million people and plenty of interesting sights to see. There are roughly 70 different tribes that make up the population of the small country, each with unique customs that contribute to the country’s vibrant cultural stew.

While extreme poverty and disease have marked the country in the last couple of decades, the capital city of Lusaka (where Children International works) is seeing a resurgence in recent years. New buildings are reaching into the sky while traditional markets – filled with color and energy – thrive on the streets below.
Visitors find the weather to be warm but quite pleasant most of the year – except during the rainy season from November to March – and are typically greeted with affection and enthusiasm by the polite people who call this African wonder their home.
