Over 2,500 sponsored children

Perhaps no country in the world is as diverse as the United States of America.

Despite its prominence on the world political and economic scene, the United States is a young country. The vast majority of its inhabitants are descended from immigrants from every corner of the globe; as a result, the influences of many cultures are felt throughout American society.

While the United States as a whole tends to be economically prosperous, poverty is a real problem in many areas of the country. According to the US Census Bureau, in 2007 over 37.3 million people in the United States were living in poverty.

In addition to its international child sponsorship programs, Children International works in the United States through its Share America® Program, which it operates in partnership with the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. United States
