Sponsorship in Ecuador

The drive is not long from the lovely modern districts frequented by tourists in Quito and Guayaquil to the urban and semi-urban communities served by Children International…but the transition from dignity and opulence to stark misery is abrupt.

Families living in these communities often have literally no chance at all to better their circumstances on their own. Trapped by social and educational barriers that are nearly insurmountable in their culture, their only hope is the near miracle of finding a helping hand extended in their direction.

Through the Children International community centers located throughout these impoverished areas, that helping hand has become a reality. Each center serves around 5,000 children, bringing hope and changing futures by providing health and dental care, nutritional support and educational assistance – reliable and free services that are life-changing in their impact on poor families for whom mere survival is often the single highest priority of the day.

Fueled by a determination to succeed and confident in the abilities they have gained through Children International’s programs that teach leadership and vocational skills, sponsored children and youth are refusing to be limited by their families meager incomes (often no more than $160 per month) and often substandard living conditions.
